Dublin to hold the International Pharmaceutical Federation
2013?

It has been rumoured by the Irish Pharmacist that the Annual
World Congress of the International Pharmaceutical
Federation (FIP) is due to take place in Ireland in 2013,
putting Ireland at the centre of the largest
international pharmacy convention in the world.
According to the minutes of a PSI Council meeting, which
took place in July, "the President confirmed that the
Registrar had received formal notification that
the Annual FIP World Congress will be held in Dublin in
2013, coinciding with the Irish Presidency of the
EU".
Furthermore, the latest minutes from the PSI meeting of
21 October 2009, stated that the contract in relation to
the FIP 2013 meeting in Dublin was due to be signed on
3 December by the Registrar, with the President and
Vice- President in attendance. Founded in 1912, the
FIP is the global federation of national
associations of pharmacists and pharmaceutical
scientists in official relations with the World Health
Organisation (WHO). Through its 122 Member Organisations
and 4,000 Individual Members, FIP represents and serves
almost two million practitioners and scientists around
the world.
Every year, FIP organises the World Congress of Pharmacy
and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where thousands of
pharmacists meet, learn, share and exchange
views. Lectures, plenary sessions, poster exhibitions and
section programmes, together with Council meetings and
the Leadership Conference make this event the
premier international event in pharmacy each year.
